Malaysian education policy is to integrate students with learning difficulties or special educational needs. There are currently about 768 special education integration programmes in Malaysian primary and secondary schools.

Malaysian CARE (Christian Association for Relief) advocates for pre-school and primary children with special needs to be included in mainstream schools.

There are also a small number of private special needs pre-schools and schools in larger towns and cities.
